Quantum Vibe

A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly 100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.

Not-Safe dot Kickstarter [ May 6, 2024 ]

Not Safe Comics logo

The big news this week is that Scott is preparing to launch a Kickstarter for his other comic, the very much NSFW Not-Safe.Space.

This over-sized (8.5 x 11-inch), 48 page book contains Chapter 1 of this naughty sci-fi spin-off, featuring Eithne Lamdagan, who happens to be Alyss Roaz' 7th-great granddaughter, in case you didn't know.

The story picks up roughly 2 years after QUANTUM VIBE: Assimulation left off, as Eithne and her K'Tagon boyfriend Ralff, wander through the Galaxy of the Gamer Godz, playing as the CUSH Queen, working to re-balance a real-life RPG that her travelling companion Hugo Galvez left in a bit of a mess.

Only instead of Eithne's CUSH turning people into techno-zombies, as the Godz originally intended, Eithne wants to make them techno-Succubi/Incubi, spreading what she calls an "Erogene" factor rendering them too busy making love, to make war. And of course, Eithne gets wrapped up in her work.

The campaign will start on May 14, and the link for the pre-launch page is here.

Transcript For Strip 1241

Panel 1
Alyss leads Bok and Zander through a gently down-sloping tunnel cut through rock. The walls are fairly smooth. Alyss is carrying a hand-torch.
Bok: What is this, an old mine?
Alyss: One of the oldest. Dug with lasers. Played-out a long time ago.
Panel 2
Cut to Diana cautiously entering the tunnel. She's putting on some goggles (for night vision).
Zander (OP): What did they mine here?
Alyss (OP): Mostly aluminum, some iron and tungsten.
Alyss: Raw materials for the cities you live in.
Panel 3
Alyss, Bok and Zander step into an open-walled elevator car. There's a large lever and two circular hand-cranks. Also, we can see a ladder running down the shaft next to the car.
Zander: This elevator still works?
Alyss: It does now. Took me a while to refurbish.
Alyss: Beats the hell out of climbing the ladders, though.
Panel 4
The lever has been moved to the 'up' position, and Bok and Alyss are turning the hand-cranks, while Zander clings to a railing. The torch has been placed in a slot designed for it.
Zander: Couldn't you refurbish the electric motors?
Alyss: Any electrical power this close to this surface could be detected.
Bok: What about your hand-torch?
Panel 5
Cut to Diana climbing down the ladder. The others' dialog balloons point below her.
Alyss (OP): Chemical luminescence. Undetectable by the grumps.
Bok: {snort!} Ha-ha! 'The Grumps.' That's funny.
Alyss: What do you call them?
Panel 6
Looking up the shaft, past Diana, we see another silhouetted figure looking down at her.
Bok (OP): Oh, 'the Bots,' usually.
Zander (OP): Or the 'Central Intelligence.'
Bok: Or, 'the shit-heads.'
Zander: {snort!}
