OUR STORY THUS FAR (PART 1)
In the 566th year of the space age, at a place called L-5 City, orbiting 384 thousand kilometers from mother Terra...
There was this girl, Nicole Oresme. She was 22 years old and in most ways fairly typical for a youngster of her time and place. And in some ways, not so typical.
Needing employment, she took a job with this guy: Dr. Seamus O'Murchadha, the renowned 'mad scientist', inventor of electro-gravity and many of the other nifty technologies that make these times so exciting.
He needed an assistant for a highly secret research project that would take them on a tour of the solar system. He would not divulge the purpose of the project.
He also told her it involved making a hazardous dive under the sun's corona. She took some time to think things over before accepting the position. And so off they went to Mercury, and Nicole's first adventure.
On Mercury, they encountered this guy: Wayne Bobinardi, Vice President Tech Acquisition for GENSAXWAL, the Mercorp dominant in Western Terra. Bobinardi is as keen on learning what Seamus is up to, as Seamus is kee on on not letting Bobinardi find out.
Nicole's sun-dive was touch-and-go but successful, and as the first woman to perform the feat she became a system-wide celebrity.
Her celebrations were interrupted by an assassination attempt on her and Seamus... ... when persons unknown hacked the hotel computer and ordered their rooms to be 'vacuumed'.
