Quantum Vibe
A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly
100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five
centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various
off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The
story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along
with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues
with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.
What Comes Next [ Mar 18, 2024 ]
The war is over, but This Means War has a ways to go. Novo Paolo/Bubbleopolis is still in a nebula/stellar nursery, no one knows what happened to the planet Sharen (center of the Intergalactic Council), and the status of the now-surrendered Invaders is yet to be resolved. What will they do when they learn their homeworld is basically destroyed? Will Alyss and Li be re-united? How about Diana (the real one) and Otto?
These questions will be resolved in the next few weeks, before This Means War part 3 wraps in late May.
After that, I plan to go BACK in time about 400 years, to when Alyss and Li left their home in the Sol System to colonize a new world on the far side of the galaxy. As one might expect, hijinks ensue. New subtitle yet to be determined, start date sometime in around the start of July. Stay tuned!
Panel 1
The assault squad, in full battle kit, settle themselves into a new cockpit – six seats, with a hatchway leading to another area behind. Li and Murphy in front, Nicole in one of the middle row seats, Nigel and Buford in the back.
Caption: And, on the fifth day:
Li: Well, I hope Boudicca flies as good as she looks.
Murphy: I had the 'bots build her according to your specs, and test-flew her during your last sleep-cycle. She'll fly true.
Panel 2
Still in the cockpit. We can see space outside the canopy.
Li: What's the itinerary?
Murphy: First transit to near Neptune, use his gravity to help us get to the right inertial vector.
Murphy: Then a very brief transit to the Terran upper stratosphere for fine-tuning, then to the first target.
Panel 3
Cut to: Outside the Móu Gòu Kòu Shèshī, angled upward past part of the building where we see two guards in the lower frame. The Boudicca zaps into the sky 100 meters above them, using the EM shield to suppress the electrical flash. The shockwave of her arrival gets their attention.
SFX: BOOOM!!!
Panel 4
Hovering, Boudicca fires off two rockets at the building. Two of the tanks visible in the frame are turning their turrets towards her. We see one of the guards yelling into his wristband.
SFX: POOOM!! POOOM!!
Guard: TARGET THE AIRCRAFT!
Panel 5
Athena transits again, this time not suppressing the flash effect. The result is a massive EM flash.
SFX: K-KRAKK!!!
Panel 6
Cut to interior, the auditorium. Boudicca transits into the room, which is large enough to contain her. The transit is not EM shielded so now we get both the boom and the zap.
SFX: K-KRAKK!!!
SFX: BOOOM!!!
Panel 7
Boudicca's landing struts extend and the ship drops to the floor). The shock-wave has flattened the seats and caused considerable damage to the interior but the walls and roof remain intact.
Li (from inside): Last chance to abort.
Murphy (from inside): No shucking way.
SFX: crunch krumple
Panel 8
A ramp has opened and the assault squad storms out, commando style.
Li: Quickly as you can, people.
Li: That diversion only bought us a few minutes.
Murphy: I have a fix on his position.
Murphy: Follow me!
