Hu Iz Alyss Roaz?
Quantum Vibe
A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly
100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five
centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various
off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The
story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along
with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues
with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.
What Comes Next [ Mar 18, 2024 ]
The war is over, but This Means War has a ways to go. Novo Paolo/Bubbleopolis is still in a nebula/stellar nursery, no one knows what happened to the planet Sharen (center of the Intergalactic Council), and the status of the now-surrendered Invaders is yet to be resolved. What will they do when they learn their homeworld is basically destroyed? Will Alyss and Li be re-united? How about Diana (the real one) and Otto?
These questions will be resolved in the next few weeks, before This Means War part 3 wraps in late May.
After that, I plan to go BACK in time about 400 years, to when Alyss and Li left their home in the Sol System to colonize a new world on the far side of the galaxy. As one might expect, hijinks ensue. New subtitle yet to be determined, start date sometime in around the start of July. Stay tuned!
Panel 1
Alyss and the kids are standing just inside the door to a comfortable-looking bedroom.
Alyss: Okay, there are three rooms, interconnected with doors that lock from each side.
Alyss: So you can have as much or as little privacy as you want.
Panel 2
Alyss is holding up something that looks like a Cable TV remote.
Alyss: Each room has a video terminal, snack and drink dispenser, and toilet.
Alyss: Since you don't have implants, you will need one of these handies to control everything.
Bok: Implants?
Panel 3
Alyss points at her head.
Alyss: Most people here have cortical implants. Computers that interface directly with our brains.
Alyss: They also have radio transcievers, so we can control gadgets, and communicate with each other at a distance.
Zander: Cool. Can I get one?
Panel 4
Zander is caught between Alyss and Diana, arguing.
Alyss: I can arrange that for you, sure.
Diana: Hold on, Zander. It could be a trap.
Diana: Something like that can as easily control YOU as you can control IT.
Panel 5
Alyss looks a bit put out but keeps calm. Diana stands her ground.
Alyss: Look, I understand your concern, but we don't do that here.
Alyss: These 'plants have multiple safeguards.
Alyss: There hasn't been a case of a 'plant being hacked and used against its owner in 450 years.
Diana: Says you.
Panel 6
Zander demurs, as Alyss and Diana glare through narrowed eyes at each other.
Zander: Uh, maybe I'll think about it a bit, if that's okay with you.
Alyss: Fine by me. Take all the time you need.
Diana: You bet he will.
