To boldly go where no manic pixie dream girl has gone before.
Quantum Vibe
A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly
100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five
centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various
off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The
story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along
with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues
with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.
What Comes Next [ Mar 18, 2024 ]
The war is over, but This Means War has a ways to go. Novo Paolo/Bubbleopolis is still in a nebula/stellar nursery, no one knows what happened to the planet Sharen (center of the Intergalactic Council), and the status of the now-surrendered Invaders is yet to be resolved. What will they do when they learn their homeworld is basically destroyed? Will Alyss and Li be re-united? How about Diana (the real one) and Otto?
These questions will be resolved in the next few weeks, before This Means War part 3 wraps in late May.
After that, I plan to go BACK in time about 400 years, to when Alyss and Li left their home in the Sol System to colonize a new world on the far side of the galaxy. As one might expect, hijinks ensue. New subtitle yet to be determined, start date sometime in around the start of July. Stay tuned!
Panel 1
On the command deck, Eithne, Murphy and Hugo are at their ring-stanchions.
Caption: And so, two days later:
Murphy: Mister Lamdagan?
Eithne: Systems check complete, Captain, all reporting 100 percent.
Murphy: Very good. Mister Galvéz?
Hugo: The barn is all buttoned-up for our extended absence.
Panel 2
Two-shot of Murphy and Hugo.
Hugo: There is one thing we've overlooked.
Murphy: What's that?
Hugo: We haven't named this starship.
Panel 3
Murphy rolls her eyes. Eithne is intrigued. Hugo explains.
Murphy: Oh, for gourd's sake, Hugo! You and your archaic fixations.
Hugo: It won't hurt to indulge me on this one. But the choice should go to the owner, our boson.
Eithne: Um, I haven't really thought about a name. But I like the idea.
Panel 4
Hugo, Murphy and Eithne hash it out.
Hugo: Well, if I may suggest a name, I'd recommend Causa Sui.
Eithne: Kawza Swee? What's that?
Hugo: An ancient Latin term, meaning 'cause of itself.' It relates to how we assign purpose to our own lives.
Panel 5A
Eithne, Murphy and Hugo. Hugo is holding up one hand and snapping his fingers.
Eithne: I like it.
Murphy: I suppose you'll want to do the Christening ceremony, too.
Hugo: This won't take long.
SFX: SNAP!
Panel 5B
On a wall of the bay, a panel slides open, and a champagne bottle flies out of the opening.
SFX: Fwoosh!
Panel 6
The bottle breaks on the bow of Causa Sui.
SFX: KRSSH!
Murphy (OP): You can clean up the mess when we return.
Hugo: Aye-aye, Captain Sweetie.
