Dark plans fall like thunderbolts.
Quantum Vibe
A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly
100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five
centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various
off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The
story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along
with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues
with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.
Kickstarter successful and closed [ May 19, 2026 ]
The Kickstarter campaign for Not-Safe.Space Chapter 3 concluded successfully on April 21, and Scott extended the time allowed for late pledges until May 19.
Books have been ordered from the printer and Scott will be spending the next week or so setting up and sending the PDF files to those who asked for them.
(There are still six of you who have not responded to the survey asking for e-mail and snail-mail addresses, he'll do the best he can.)
Panel 1
Same shot from slightly different angle. Alex has turned back to glare in Zondra's direction.
Zondra (OP, electronic): I forgot to mention that we're in deep space, and there's a million light-years of nothing on the other side of those doors.
Zondra: So, you have ten seconds to persuade me not to open them.
Panel 2
Same shot, Alex is giving her the finger with both hands, his face a mask of grim defiance.
Zondra (OP, electronic): Ah, I see.
Zondra: Well, if you're not going to be entertaining, then ...
Panel 3
Now we see the exterior of Zondra's space-craft. A well-worn small cruiser, self-illuminated against a very black void. An airlock door has opened and Alex is getting blown out of it. He's still holding up his fingers.
Zondra (from craft): … To hell with you.
Panel 4
We pull back and we see the cruiser back-lit by a sprawling irregular galaxy beyond it.
Zondra (from craft): And now -- finally! -- for my well-earned retirement .
