Dark plans fall like thunderbolts.
Quantum Vibe
A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly
100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five
centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various
off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The
story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along
with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues
with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.

Panel 1
Greta wanders about the room, looking at the various paintings and statuary.
Greta: Well, I certainly can't fault your taste in artistic fakery.
Greta: But our concern is with progress, or lack thereof, in the Rainbow.
Mordecai: It is my concern as well.
Panel 2
Greta is mostly turned away from Mordecai as she 'discreetly' puts a booger in her mouth. But Mordecai does notice, and his face registers disgust.
Mordecai: The mathematics involved are quite complex, as you can imagine, and …
Mordecai: … and ...
Mordecai: … the city rests in the barycenter of a very rare sort of quintuple star system.
Panel 3
They continue wandering about the room (although we don't see much for all the dialog).
Mordecai: Early tests proved that it is crucial to get the alignments exactly right, or we could have a disaster on our hands.
Greta: What kind of disaster?
Mordecai: The kind that kills anyone trying to use the Rainbow.
Panel 4
Greta looks concerned, but Mordecai is all smiles.
Mordecai: Sometimes also the crews running the tests, unfortunately.
Greta: Are … we in that kind of danger here?
Mordecai: Everyone is thrilled that you have come to oversee the final testing.
