Dark plans fall like thunderbolts.
Quantum Vibe
A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly
100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five
centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various
off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The
story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along
with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues
with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.
Kickstarter successful and closed [ May 19, 2026 ]
The Kickstarter campaign for Not-Safe.Space Chapter 3 concluded successfully on April 21, and Scott extended the time allowed for late pledges until May 19.
Books have been ordered from the printer and Scott will be spending the next week or so setting up and sending the PDF files to those who asked for them.
(There are still six of you who have not responded to the survey asking for e-mail and snail-mail addresses, he'll do the best he can.)
Panel 1
In the Pillars’ conference room, Dominic Martello is kneeling atop the table, it’s dome open. He’s working on something inside. Alyss peers over his shoulder.
Jorge: Well, what do you think? Can we do the return trip?
Panel 2
Dominic leans back, shoulders slumped. He has a gadget in his hand which he was using on the works inside.
Dominic: Well, I think I’ve worked out the navigation system.
Alyss: But we are a long way from home. Almost a billion parsecs.
Enrique: Do you think we can jump that far?
Panel 3
Dominic continues.
Dominic: Assuming I have the coordinates right, well, not quite.
Alyss: We have about 85 percent of the power we need, assuming a small reserve for final adjustments.
Panel 4
Alyss continues
Kofi Akosa: Since we’re no longer fighting, can we build up what we need, here?
Dominic: We’re also rebuilding structures, and people. Give it about two cycles, maybe three.
Lorelei: Three cycles? We’ll start having food shortages by the first!
Panel 5
Alyss continues.
Enrique: Food prices are already rising. Soon we may have a riot on our hands.
Jorge: Maybe we can move closer to one of the nearby clusters?
Alyss: If we do that …
SFX: WheEze-rump! WheEze-rump! WheEze-rump!
Panel 6
Hugo and Murphy emerge from their hopper.
Hugo: So, are you all ready to go home?
