A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly 100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.

Alyss continues narration: There had been no rain in our area.
Alyss: So, we followed the river upstream to find the source of all that water.
Panel 2
Inside the control cabin, Nicole is pointing something out to Li on the main viewer.
Alyss: Along the way, we found a few other homesteads that had been flooded.
Alyss: But on one of them ...

Alyss: A family that had not been able to get away were trapped on their roof!

In the control cabin,
Nicole: Li, we can’t just fly away! We have to help them!
Li: We can’t land here, but I think I can lower the gangway and maneuver close enough they can jump on.

The cruiser hovers just above the roof, as Nicole, on the gangway, helps them get on.
Alyss: And in this way, we met our first fellow settler-family.
Panel 6
The family is now seated around the table in the galley, as Nicole and Warren offer drinks.
Alyss: They were Alexandra Weinstein and her husband Julius, their daughter Wynona, son Robert, and Julius’ mother, Talia.
