Quantum Vibe
A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly
100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five
centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various
off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The
story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along
with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues
with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.
Panel 1
In the foreground, we see Seamus sitting hip-deep in disassembled gadgetry, intently doing something to a circuit board with a tiny laser-welder. In the background, Murphy stands just inside the doorway to his suite.
Murphy: Seamus. I … was hoping you could advise me?
Seamus: Hurm.
Panel 2
Murphy draws closer. Seamus doesn't look up, continues working.
Murphy: Hope you're not unhappy with me but I've been trying to help Buford's boyfriend find out who murdered his sister.
Seamus: Hurm.
Panel 3
Murphy is as close as she can get to where Seamus is squatting. She leans forward a bit.
Murphy: I've been trying to hack into Vesta Vista's network, but I keep getting stymied.
Murphy: Can you help me? Or at least, give me some hacking tips?
Seamus: Hurm.
Panel 4
Now Murphy is looking annoyed.
Murphy: Seamus, are you even listening to me?
Seamus: Yes, I am, and no, I won't help you.
Panel 5
Murphy is taken aback.
Murphy: You … won't--?
Seamus: As I said, you should have avoided this entanglement to begin with. I am leaving Vesta in four days, with or without you.
Panel 6
Murphy is at a loss for words, starting to get angry.
Murphy: I … I … alright, then.
Seamus: Any other questions?
Panel 7
Murphy exits through the doorway in the background, leaving Seamus to work in silence.
[No dialog]
Panel 8
Seamus continues working.
Seamus: {tsk} Not enough curiosity to ask me what I'm doing ...
