Quantum Vibe
A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly
100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five
centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various
off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The
story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along
with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues
with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.
Kickstarter successful and closed [ May 19, 2026 ]
The Kickstarter campaign for Not-Safe.Space Chapter 3 concluded successfully on April 21, and Scott extended the time allowed for late pledges until May 19.
Books have been ordered from the printer and Scott will be spending the next week or so setting up and sending the PDF files to those who asked for them.
(There are still six of you who have not responded to the survey asking for e-mail and snail-mail addresses, he'll do the best he can.)
Panel 1
Seamus is reclining in his bed, wearing his slacks and shirt, viewing something on his personal Screen.
From the screen: Dearest Seamus – things have been routine here but news of the Vesta Vista scandal did stir things up quite a bit.
Screen: Vivian Wells is an in-situ engineer on loan from VV and I'm afraid she caught a lot of flack from some of the staff.
Panel 2
We see what Seamus sees on his screen – in a window, Dr. Johanna Diamondi speaking, in a pre-recorded message. (Text on screen reads SENT: 16.10.566)
Johanna: I managed to calm things down by pointing out that Wells was just one of hundreds of VV employees who had nothing to do with the plot to smash Ceres.
Johanna: It helped that people here know that I'm engaged to you.
Panel 3
Seamus, looking bemused as the message continues.
Johanna (from Screen): Word of your involvement in foiling the plot has made you something of a celebrity here.
Johanna: Everyone is looking forward to meeting you when you arrive in December.
Panel 4
Cut to Murphy standing outside the door into Seamus' room, looking pensive.
Johanna (OP): Of course I'm looking forward to that too. Also, to when you're close enough that light-lag doesn't prevent us from chatting in real time.
Johanna: Love you, darling. Please respond soon.
