Quantum Vibe
A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly
100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five
centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various
off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The
story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along
with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues
with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.
Kickstarter successful and closed [ May 19, 2026 ]
The Kickstarter campaign for Not-Safe.Space Chapter 3 concluded successfully on April 21, and Scott extended the time allowed for late pledges until May 19.
Books have been ordered from the printer and Scott will be spending the next week or so setting up and sending the PDF files to those who asked for them.
(There are still six of you who have not responded to the survey asking for e-mail and snail-mail addresses, he'll do the best he can.)
Panel 1
Murphy stands in the corridor, Toombs' corpse still impaled on her hands.
Cristina: Murphy, are you ok?
Murphy: Here. I won.
Panel 2
Murphy lowers her arms and lets Toombs' corpse slide off and onto the deck.
Cristina: You don't sound well.
Murphy: I'm fine, really. Only a few scratches, they'll buff right out.
Panel 3
Murphy leans back against a wall, contemplating her dead foe. Her hands are back to normal.
Murphy: I'm just tired.
Murphy: And, disappointed.
Cristina: How so?
Panel 4
Medium close-up of Murphy, looking sadly puzled.
Murphy: Well, there was an initial thrill of victory when I killed Toombs.
Murphy: But it was only fleeting.
Murphy: Now, I don't feel anything.
Panel 5
Murphy begins walking down the corridor, deep in thought. Her dark-commando outfit is gone, and we see her in the tank-top and yoga pants she normally wears under her holo-clothing.
Cristina: Toombs was a bad, bad personality. Bobinardi checked his background.
Cristina: He was a hatchet-man for hire, someone to break bones or even kill people as desired by the powerful.
Panel 6
Murphy continues walking along.
Murphy: So you're saying I did more than get revenge for myself and my friends?
Cristina: You may have prevented a lot of future crimes ...
Panel 7
A beam flashes across the corridor, catching Murphy in the head, from behind.
SFX: ZBMF!!
Panel 8
In the lower foreground, Murphy has collapsed onto the deck, unmoving. In the midde-background, Wayne Bobinardi appears, brandishing an odd-looking pistol.
Bobinardi: Well, that was easier than I thought it would be.
