Quantum Vibe

A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly 100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.

What Comes Next [ Mar 18, 2024 ]

The War is Over. We Won.

The war is over, but This Means War has a ways to go. Novo Paolo/Bubbleopolis is still in a nebula/stellar nursery, no one knows what happened to the planet Sharen (center of the Intergalactic Council), and the status of the now-surrendered Invaders is yet to be resolved. What will they do when they learn their homeworld is basically destroyed? Will Alyss and Li be re-united? How about Diana (the real one) and Otto?

These questions will be resolved in the next few weeks, before This Means War part 3 wraps in late May.

After that, I plan to go BACK in time about 400 years, to when Alyss and Li left their home in the Sol System to colonize a new world on the far side of the galaxy. As one might expect, hijinks ensue. New subtitle yet to be determined, start date sometime in around the start of July. Stay tuned!

Transcript For Strip 1964

Panel 1
Wook falls back into Diana's arms, blood gushing from the side of her neck. Diana is in shock.

Caption: Carmen had appeared literally out of nowhere. I wondered later whether she had used holographic camouflage or was just supernaturally stealthy.
Caption: At the time, however, my brain was too shocked to think about anything.

Panel 2
Diana has dragged Wook's dying body back into the room, bawling her eyes out, as Carmen stands nonchalantly in the doorway.
Caption: If we'd been on Zytemonde, Wook's body would have pinned me to the floor. Fortunately the gravity here was only 3 mesecs* … less than half of Zytemonde's.
Diana: Wwaaauuugghhh!!!
Carmen: She doesn't have much to say for herself now, does she?
Caption: *mesecs = meters per second squared
Panel 3
Carmen has stepped aside from the doorway, and more goons come trotting in. Diana is crouching over Wook. Trying to staunch the blood coming from her wound.
Carmen: Well, I suppose this is better than if you'd brought the other body-guard. That one was so cute I would have regretted having to kill her.
Caption: That final remark sealed her fate.
Panel 4
Diana and Wook are surrounded by a discus of shockwave, with a calm sphere in the center. Carmen and the goons surrounding them are caught with the full force of the blast.
Caption: I detonated Dong's sonic grenade.
SFX: BWAAAANGGGG!!!
