Dark plans fall like thunderbolts.
Quantum Vibe
A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly
100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five
centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various
off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The
story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along
with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues
with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.
Kickstarter successful and closed [ May 19, 2026 ]
The Kickstarter campaign for Not-Safe.Space Chapter 3 concluded successfully on April 21, and Scott extended the time allowed for late pledges until May 19.
Books have been ordered from the printer and Scott will be spending the next week or so setting up and sending the PDF files to those who asked for them.
(There are still six of you who have not responded to the survey asking for e-mail and snail-mail addresses, he'll do the best he can.)
Panel 1
The kids are still digging in the planters. Brielle has hit her exhaustion point.
Caption: Several minutes later.
Brielle: I’m tired! I can’t dig any more.
Nicole: All right, take a break.
Nicole: I’ll finish for you.
Panel 2
Nicole and Warren working side by side.
Warren: How come she gets to take a break?
Nicole: She’s only 8 Terran years old.
Warren: How much is that in Novo Palermo years?
Panel 3
Nicole and Warren
Nicole: Uh, about 9.2, I think.
Warren: Does that mean I’ll be 18 in less than 6 more years?
Nicole: Nope.
Panel 4
Nicole and Warren
Nicole: By convention we only count birthdays in Terran years, no matter where we live.
Nicole: Otherwise if we were still on Titania you’d be shaving on your third birthday.
Panel 5
Nicole is back on her feet, dusting the dirt off her legs
Narration: Several more minutes later:
Nicole: All right, kids, the holes are dug, time to transfer the trees.
Brielle: I can’t do that! I’m too little.
Panel 6
Nicole crosses her arms, Brielle looks unhappy, Warren grins slyly.
Nicole: That’s okay, Brie, Warren and I will handle the trees.
Nicole: Your job will be to repack the dirt around the tree roots.
