A thousand years in the future, humanity has colonized worlds in nearly 100 galaxies, thanks to Quantum Vibremonic technologies developed five centuries earlier. Other new technologies have created various off-shoots of humanity and extended life expectancies five-fold. The story begins with how a mad scientist and his plucky assistant, along with their robot friend, brought humanity to the stars, and continues with the adventures of some unique people in fantastic places.

Mann: I suppose you have had your fill of people asking you about your Sun Dive last May.
Nicole: You could say that.

Gus and Nicole.
Mann: And I imagine your – ah – legal problems on Luna are something you'd prefer to put behind you.
Nicole: You're not exactly winning me over, Gus.

Gus keeps trying.
Mann: Could we talk about your work then? I understand you're an apprentice physicist.
Nicole: Do you know anything about charge quantization? The Fractional Hall Effect? Metargenic monopoles?

Mann: Uh, I'm afraid I don't.
Nicole: Of course not. You're a politician's aide. You only know about bullshit.
